Colombia is a member of the Hague convention therefore there are several methods to serve a person who has been sued in country different than Colombia.
Our law firm provides all the services and activities to serve a person in Colombia and deliver him the documents requested by the foreign Court and we provide certification of delivery and signature of forms ordered by court.
Type of delivery
Informal: our agent serve the defendant but there is no certificate of delivery only our email confirms that service was done.
Formal: our agent serves the defendant and signs the form requested by the foreign court or the affidavit and notarizes both documents if needed. Apostilled service is also available if needed and traslations.
Advice
We have been providing this service for US law firms and UK law firms for several years and we know there are other foreign process servers NOT BASED IN COLOMBIA that make clients believe they can do it in Colombia and at the end the excuse based on the security issue or the any drug related security issue to avoid the task hired

Requirements to process the service
- If sending via email: a PDF version of the service documents combined in 1 file.
If sending via FedEx, mail, or similar: three (3)copies of the documents to be served.
2. A letter of instructions advising us the defendant’s name, service address, and requested method of service (i.e. formal or informal).
3. Payment for the service fees to our bank account.
